Killyleagh 2 - Carryduff U14 A
10 Oct 2015 - 11:15Killyleagh community centre - SBYL U14 Premier

A bright start from Carryduff creating 3 early chances with great football in midfield. Carryduff were getting in behind Killyleaghs defence at will which should have resulted in then taking the lead sooner. Matthew Winchester opened the scoring after good one touch passing from Joseph Tunney and Harry Graham who played Matthew in at the angle of the box as he cut across the defender and smashed the ball past their keeper.

Carryduff continued creating chances with Eamon Swail and Matthew Winchester linking well and creating goal scoring oppourtunities for Declan Magee and Rory Timoney which they couldn’t take. However, their second goal was a superb finish from Jamie Wilkinson who took a touch on the edge of the box opened his body up and curled the ball into the top corner for a well deserved 2- 0 lead.

Killyleagh got a goal back with a fortunate cross looped over Jude Lynam in goal for 2- 1. Jude in goal was having a great game very secure in his handling and good kicking putting Carryduff on the counter attack.

Carryduff were playing some good football Jamie hit the bar with a good strike from distance Harry Graham hit the post with a fierce drive after a good run through the centre of the park and Rory Timoney couldnt get the touch on a good cross at the back post.

The defence of Matthew O’Rourke and Aidan Martin (who was excellent and back to his best today) looked solid and in control Odhran Sherry at left back was a threat going down the wing and it looked only a matter of time beforCarryduff got the third. Joseph Tolan scoring at the back post to make it 3-1after some good play fron Niall Tunney down the right hand side.

Killyleagh got one back at the end to make it 3-2 and a nervous last 4 or 5 minutes but we hung on with some strong defending from Rory Gorman and Gary Topping and Matthew McTavish coming on to add energy up front and hang on for a deserved 3 points.

Well done boys a good all round performance and a relief to get the win after conceding late goals the last couple of weeks.
