If was an extremely wet and windy evening at the Cliff 3g Larne, for the first  ever meeting of these two teams at this age group.

The Colts started with the advantage of the crosswind and rain at their backs. Both teams competed well considering the conditions. After some early exchanges, the breakthrough came after Niall White made a positive forward run into theLarne penalty area, where he was tripped and without hesitation the ref awarded the penalty. Callum Savage, stepped forward and dispatched the ball straight down the centre of the net to make it one nil.

The game was becoming an increasingly physical contest. Five mins before half time, a long kick from Colts keeper, McNulty, was controlled by McCammon, played a one- two with Hughes and as McCammon entered the penalty box passed the ball to his right where Jude Doherty controlled the ball and then struck the ball into the left hand corner of the net to make two nil.

However one minute before the interval a lapse in the Colts defending allowed Larne to get a goal back to make it 2-1.

In the second half the weather was getting worse. But credit to both teams for trying to play football. The Colts defence (Lynam, Cunningham, Lyons and McKeown) in particular played extremely well  and limited the Larne attack to very few opportunities to score. In fact, the Colts had the best chances in the second  half to increase their lead, but the Larne keeper made two good saves to keep it
2-1.

The final whistle finally came and the Colts got the victory they deserved for hard work from all the players.
