The Seconds produced their best performance of the season to secure a terrific 7-2 win over Newtownbreda, who are third in the division above, in the first round of the Templeton Cup.

It feels like they are turning a corner after securing a fantastic draw in the league away from home last week, against a very strong St.Matts team.

Colts conceded early after a nervous start but with Cathal McNally, Jack Compton and young Jack Foy settled at the back, the midfield started to dominate and soon got the equaliser with a well-worked move finished by Caleb Keating who got his second shortly after.

Coming in 2-1 up at half time there was one change with Jack Foy making way for Conor O’Toole who made his presence felt straight away heading home from a great Luke Holden corner.

Matty McSorley and Jonny Wilson dominated the middle of the park supported by the very cool head of Conor Magee, with Luke Holden and Niall Dempsey working hard on the wings.

The team went from strength to strength and Newtownbreda simply couldn’t handle the quick movement and passing and Stuart Mulligan in goals had very little to do but pulled off two great saves to keep his side ahead.

Further goals were added with Keating completing his hat-trick and Aidan Magee topping off great comeback with a superb goal.  The scoring was completed by Jack Compton coming up from the back to finish a wonder goal and Matty McSorley getting his name on the score sheet also. Ruairi Sheridan replaced Niall in the second half and was unlucky on two occasions not to score
