In a cracking game of football at Knockbreda, Carryduff 08’s produced an unbelievable performance against a very strong Blackstaff team.
The boys lined up with Rafe in nets, Danny and Ciaran in defense, Owen in midfield and Jack and Rhys up front and started the game with an unbelievable tempo, stunning Blackstaff by scoring 4 goals in the first 5 mins.
It was the manner in which the goals were scored that was most pleasing – the passing and moving from the boys was top class with each goal starting from the back and all players involved in each goal.
The tempo from the boys in relentlessly pressing Blackstaff was excellent today again. Jack, Rhys and Rafe led the way from the front putting pressure on the Blackstaff defenders giving them no time on the ball and with Owen, Danny, Ciaran and Ben pressing hard from defense, the Blackstaff boys couldn’t break through.
Jack and Rhys were on fire again today with some outstanding goals. But the understanding between the two boys and Owen in midfield once again was the most pleasing. Most of the goals came from really great teamwork – passing and moving and setting the strikers up with lovely through balls.
An example of this was when Owen played a super ball over the defence which Rhys volleyed into the net and another which Rhys played over the defence to Jack who finished with a super volley.
But once again – the commitment, tackling, pressing and effort of the boys just keeps getting better.
Danny, Ciaran and Ben were absolutely brilliant in defence again today. The Blackstaff boys just couldn’t find a way around them in the first few periods.
Danny made an unbelievable run from defence, beating 3 Blackstaff players and only for a great save from the keeper would have been contender for goal of the season! And his defensive displays just keep getting better and better!
Ciaran’s ability to break out of defence and find himself a shooting opportunity was top class today – he scored a great goal and hit the post twice! And he kept Blackstaffs best player quiet the entire game!
Ben continues to get better and better at reading the game and his speed and eye for goal is also a great asset for the team when breaking up Blackstaff attacks and leading our own. He beat two players and rattled the post with a wicked shot and also scored a great goal!
Owens energy, box to box running and attacking skills were great again today. His performances in the middle of the park for the team really sets the tempo and he scored some great goals but it was his passing to the strikers and awareness in setting up goals which was brilliant!
And Rafe played in every position for the team today. He pressed hard when playing up front and after a mazy run up the left wing and a super cross into the box we were unlucky not to score. And he provided great defensive cover in the third period, breaking up a few Blackstaff attacks when they started to come into the game strong.
The boys are really starting to gel as a team and it’s great to watch their development. Well done boys!!!
