Carryduff Colts U15 4 v 3 Bloomfield – Supplementary Cup

Carryduff Colts U15 4 - 3 Bloomfield
24 Sep 2016Suplementery Cup
A great game which had a bit of everything.

Carryduff raced into an early lead after a super ball from Joe Tunney put Matthew O’Rourke through he took a touch steadied himself and put the ball beyond the keeper.

The second goal quickly followed, Eamon Swail combining with Jamie Wilkinson who putting Rory Timoney through on goal only for the Bloomfield defender to come across and hit Rory with an elbow the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot up stepped Jamie and fired straight down the middle for 2 – 0.

At this point we were in control of the match the Bloomfield keeper made a good save from Rory Timoney after Declan Magee had showed great composure in midfield before slipping Rory in with a perfectly weighted pass.

Odhran Sherry had a great effort shooting just over the cross bar after ghosting in at the back post he was picked out by Jamie
Wilkinson but he just leant back and the ball went over the bar.

We went in at  2 – 0 up at half time thanks to Ewan Wilson who made some super saves one flying across goal and tipping over the bar, another super block from point blank range denied the Bloomfield striker, Ewan also came out bravely diving at the feet of the unrushing player to keep us  2 – 0  at the break.

We knew that Bloomfield would come at us in the second half we were playing well but Bloomfield scored after good work down our right they cut the ball back for an easy tap in for 2 – 1.

Bloomfield now had their tails up and were winning the battle in midfield Mark Mc Cann made some super interceptions but the ball just wouldnt fall firstly for Jamie Wilkinson who turned the defender inside out but got the ball stuck under his feet then Mark put Joe Tolan clear only for the keeper to rush out to clear.

Harry Graham then read a Bloomfield pass stepped in and found Rory Timoney who flicked the ball past the defender only for the keeper to block the shot.

Bloomfield then equalised from a corner the ball bobbling around our box and fell to the Bloomfield player at the edge of the box and he fired into the net.

Bloomfield then went 3-2 up after again good work down our right saw the winger get to the bye line and cut back for an easy finish for 3 – 2.

The boys showed great desire to get the ball back and get the game going again, we got an equaliser after a corner from Harry Graham was swung into the near post and the defender couldnt get a good connection and put it i yo his own net.

Christopher Blaney and Aidan Martin at the back were being put under pressure but they were dealing comfortably with the Bloomfield forwards Niall Tunney at right back showed a bit of composure on the ball to drive up the line and feed Declan Magee who tried to slip in Joe Tolan only for the defender to get his toe to it and clear.

The winner was worth the wait Joe Tunney controled a ball falling out of the sky with his left foot chipping over the defenders head (reminisant of Gazza v Scotland) and smashing a right foot volley over the keepers head from 25 yards.

The boys showed great character and desire to come back and take all 3 points in a game which had everything.
