Carryduff Colts U14 A 1 v 1 Dungoyne

Carryduff Colts U14 A 1 - 1 Dungoyne
06 Nov 2015Handwood Centre

A good honest game between two well matched sides.

End to end stuff from start to finish in the end the draw was a fair result.

Both teams tried to play football, we created some good chances for Niall Tunney to force the Dungoyne keeper into a good save, and Rory Timoney just couldnt get a touch on a lovely through ball from Joseph Tunney Joseph was having a good game in the middle of the park along with Harry Graham who was putting in some crunching tackles and distributing the ball well putting Dungoyne on the back foot.

Odhran Sherry and Eamon Swail were attacking at will down the wings but just couldnt pick out the final ball, but it looked only a matter of time before we would get on the score sheet.

The defence of Aidan Martin, Matthew O’Rourke, Rory Gorman and Eamon Swail looked comfortable with anything Dungoyne could throw at them, Jamie Wilkinson was his usual energenic self breaking up attacks and driving forward with great effect causing Dungoyne to resort to niggly fouls.

Nil – nil at half time was a fair reflection on the game, in the second half Dungoyne took the lead after a good strike bounced in front of Jude Lynam and found the bottom corner of the net, Jude was having a good game coming out to block a shot with his knees and dealing with any balls over the top with ease, Jude has added a calmness and presence since going into goals giving the defence a lot of faith in his ability.

When the equaliser came it was a super delivery from Matthew Winchester which took a wicked deflection over the keeper for a 1 – 1 score line, Matthew was having a good game down the left and has great quality from set plays.

We made some changes with Joseph Tolan and Ryan Miskelly adding some pace down the wings Niall Tunney moved into the middle after Joe Tunney went off injured, Niall put Joseph Tolan through with a great disguised pass only for Joe to fire wide with only the keeper to beat.

Gary Topping and Matthew McTavish came on and added some steel and directness to our play Gary should have had a penallty when right through on the keeper he was shoved in the back but the ref waved play on, however we continued to press for the winner but it never came and the game ended 1 – 1.

A special mention for Declan Magee who was a big miss this evening and we all wish you a speedy recovery after injuring his wrist at training on Tuesday night.
