A good performance our second game this week and we played some good stuff and took our chances tonight.
The first goal came after good work from Matthew O ‘Rourke who found Declan Magee he rounded the keeper took a touch kept his composure and finished calmly.
The second goal was a great finish from Niall Tunney, Declan Magee this time turned provider after beating his man and picking out a lovely cross for Niall to wrap his foot around the ball on the volley and give the keeper no chance with a super strike.
Odhran Sherry had a couple of good efforts saved by the Ards keeper from good efforts from long range, and Aidan Martin had a header cleared off the line from a corner.
2 – 0 at half time and the boys went looking to increase the lead and the third goal quickly followed again Aidan Martin showed great determination in getting his head to a Declan Magee corner and the ball flew in the net.
The defence looked very solid with Aidan Martin and Rhys Worthington looking like they are forming a good partnership in the centre and Jude Lynam putting in a man of the match performance at left back then centre back in the second half.
Odhran Sherry at right back was having a good game attacking Ards down the right linking up well with Jamie Wilkinson who had a good effort saved by the keeper after srtiking from the edge of the box.
On the left Niall Tunney and Gary Topping were creating chances and kept Ards defence pressed in their own half, Joseph Tunney and Matthew O ‘ Rourke were breaking up the Ards attacks and pushing us forward.
Joseph had a good effort that went just over the bar , before Aidan Martin was denied a blatent penalty after a nice run he was tripped in the box.
Matthew Winchester who came on on the right hand side was having a big impact on the game and had a couple of shots to find his range before completing the scoring with a lovely finish drilled across the goal giving the keeper no chance.
Joe Tolan came on down the left and his pace was giving Ards a bit of concern , but the game was over as a contest with Ewan Wilson in goal not having a save to make in the match.
The one sour note tonight was yet another broken arm for Harry Graham our fourth during this season as well as 3 broken fingers Harry we wish you well and hope for a speedy recovery.
