Gary Topping scores 2
A deserved win and a good performance taking our chances in front of goal.
A good start had us creating chances for Rory Timoney who forced the keeper into a good save after good work from Joseph Tunney in midfield , Matthew Winchester then tested the keeper after beating 2 Ards defenders and having a shot from distance which the keeper held.
The first goal from Joseph Tolan was a super strike another through ball played over the top for Joseph to run onto which he hit first time on the half volley and the ball flew over the keeper and into the top corner.
Ards equalised with their first shot on target with another good strike , the Ards player wasnt closed down in midfield quickly enough he then advanced and from 20 yards out he unleashed a great strike which gave Jude Lynam in nets no chance.
With the score 1-1 at half time we were creating lots of chances but like recent weeks we hadnt taken enough of them , but the boys were hungry and determined to put this right and when Matty Winchester taped in at the far post to make it 2 – 1 it loked like we would go on and score more goals.
The defence of Aidan Martin , Matthew O’Rourke , Eamon Swail and Odhran Sherry had restricted Ards to only one other chance which Jude Lynam dealt with comfortably , Eamon Swail was a big threat down the right with his energetic runs up and down the wing.
Harry Graham was excellent in the centre of midfield covering when the full backs were attacking and breaking up the Ards attacks then driving us forward with his penetrating runs, Harry was involved in the third goal taking a short corner with Joseph Tunney and playing a one – two before Joseph beat the defender and delivered a great ball into the box which Gary Topping meet on the volley from 10 yards out which flew into the net for
3 – 1.
Gary Topping then doubled his tally after good work from Joseph Tolan who feed Rory Timoney who beat the defender with pace down the right and put in a great ball which Gary Topping slammed into the net from 12 yards out to make it 4 -1.
